SAN FRANCISCO, July 7, 2014 (RISI) -Caraustar's planned acquisition of Newark Group under H.I.G. Capital would combine the second and third largest uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) producers which would rank just below Sonoco in that US industry sector, according to RISI capacity estimates.

Green Bay Packaging invests $30 million in new press section replacement for PM 1 at its Arkansas kraft division

GREEN BAY, WI , July 9, 2014 (Press Release) -Green Bay Packaging Inc. (GBP) announced that it is moving forward with a press section replacement for PM1 at its Arkansas Kraft Division in Morrilton Arkansas. The $30 million project will include a new large nip press in the first press position, followed by a new shoe press in the second press position.

Brazilian corrugated board shipments decline 3.5% to 261,580 tonnes in June

SAO PAULO, July 10, 2014 (RISI) -Brazil shipped a total of 261,580 tonnes of corrugated board - including boxes, accessories and sheets - in June, a 3.38% decline over the same month of 2013, according to preliminary data from the Brazilian corrugated board assn (ABPO). The volume was also 9.49% lower than May.

Germany’s Igepa acquires Lamersdorf corrugated box plant

BRUSSELS, July 10, 2014 (PPI Europe) -The Igepa group has acquired the insolvent corrugated packaging firm Wellpappenwerk Lamersdorf located in Inden in western Germany.

The plant, which employs 45 people, will be managed by Igepa's Häuser E. Michaelis and Freytag & Petersen firms under the name IPS Lamersdorf.
