Smurfit Kappa to invest Euro 27 million to transform virgin fibre linerboard machine PM 1 into unbleached MG paper machine PM 4 in Sangüesa, in Spain

DUBLIN, Ireland, May 19, 2014 (Press Release) -Smurfit Kappa will invest EUR 27 million on its Sangüesa site (Northern Spain) to transform its PM1 machine producing today 65 kT of virgin fibre based containerboard (Karpan liner), into PM4, a 30 kT virgin brown machine glazed paper.

Box shipments show uptick in April as inventories drop 92,000 tons, but US market still fragile with new supply

OAKLAND, May 16, 2014 (PPI Pulp & Paper Week) -After a slow first quarter impacted by weather and flat economic growth, US box shipments picked up slightly in April, while mills eased back on operating rates to just below 95% and containerboard inventories tumbled 92,000 tons, according to the latest industry statistics.
