Current Conditions for U.S. Containerboard, Corrugated Boxes and Boxboard

U.S. corrugated box shipments retreated back to 30.1 billion square feet (BSF) in August, after adjusting the data for seasonality and working days. This figure was well below the 30.5 BSF figure that was recorded in July, but slightly higher than the 30.0 BSF monthly average for the prior 42 months. Not surprisingly, cumulative shipments for the first eight months of the year were dead even with the year ago level, since "flat" has been the word that has been used most often to describe the box market this year.

Fire hits Swiss folding box manufacturer Karton + Papier AG, production unit unaffected
